August 8, 2018

This is my personal log regarding the wife, who stroked on August 6, 2018.  The format is somewhat unusual, as each entry will be its own post and will be formatted as either first person or as speaking to another.

Prior to August 7, 2018 – Sandy is subject to intermittent slurring of words, intermixed with periods of normal speech – some difficulty walking (more than normal).  This has been occurring for two weeks.  At the time, we did not recognize it for what it was.  Please see TIA – The Silent Stroke for an explanation.

August 7, 2018 – No more intermittent periods of normal speech – all speech is slurred, she is unsteady on her feet, nearly impossible to walk, subject to bouts of confusion.

On this day, my wife suffered several strokes (at least two) and is now in hospital, in ICU. She will be there for a few days. The immediate goal is to stabilize what’s going on in her brain.
By the Grace of God, Sandy survived. With His help, she will recover. It will be a long, difficult road, and prayers are needed from my friends and family.  She needs them.
